Packaging a Lightbulb

For this project, we were tasked with developing a packaging for a light bulb. We were told to focus on structure and protection, and to make a clear and cohesive design. For my light bulb, I decided to use a dimmable light bulb because I could then use a gradient and show the idea of dimmability. It was my first time trying to create packaging, so it was very interesting to see how you had to design everything flat and then print it after carefully measuring and making all your art boards the right size. It was a lot more work than I thought it was going to be. For my design, I decided to go very simplistic and then use a thicker material to be my protective agent. This thicker material, however, made it very difficult to fold and make all the layers of structure, design, and interior meet. After five hours alone trying to fix the design, I got it to a place where I was happy enough with the design to consider it complete.
